Pendennis Shipyard Ltd
"Cornwall's maritime heritage means that we can take advantage of the know-how and experience of some really superb craftsmen."
Jill Carr, Pendennis Shipyard Ltd
Pendennis Shipyard works closely with leading naval architects and designers to build some of the world's most technologically advanced and luxuriously appointed superyachts. It also restores and refits vintage vessels, from Edwardian motor-cruisers to three-masted schooners, and undertakes specialist contracts for the construction industry.
Successful completion of these complex projects demands not only a huge range of advanced technical skills, but also stringent project management, close liaison with exceptionally demanding clients, and highly developed teamworking abilities. The company's 180-strong workforce includes steel and aluminium construction workers, joiners, boat builders, electricians, mechanical and electrical engineers, and paint technicians.
Pendennis weathered the global economic downturn of the early 1990s, and after a management buy-out has succeeded in winning a string of valuable orders that have helped make it the largest privately owned yacht-builder in the UK. In 2003 it embarked on a £7 million upgrade of its facilities that will bolster its position as one of the most technologically advanced boatyards in Europe.
