New Offices For Leader In Protection Laws
25.01.2007
Intellectual Property (IP) law firm NJ Akers is moving its office to Truro as the Cornwall-based business continues to expand. The company is making the move to help it better serve its growing client base as well as to allow for future development. It has seen significant growth in its client base, working with clients across the globe.
Run by Noel Akers, one of Europe's leading practitioners of intellectual property law, the company now employs three full-time staff.
Sarah Irish, a trainee patent attorney, and Christian Ziar, trade mark associate, were recruited through the Unlocking Cornish Potential Scheme, and Suzanne Wheeler provides office support.
The business has also received invaluable support through Act Now's Accelerator scheme which has aided the installation of a full IT network at the new premises.
NJ Akers has been involved in a number of high profile IP cases.
Most recently it successfully filed a patent application for local client Rob Kinna, who appeared on BBC's Dragons' Den programme, for his Bak-Jak support device, and successfully secured funding.
Noel Akers said: "Since moving to Cornwall two years ago the company has gone from strength to strength. We regularly compete against larger city firms across the UK and our clients are based both in the UK and internationally."
The new offices have conference facilities and are near Truro railway station
